Organic/Natural Products List

Picture from Organoderm. Great product!
Quite often, I am asked by people who are just starting out in changing their daily routines to more organic and natural ones, the same question. "Where do you buy your organic makeup/lotions/soaps, etc.?" OR "Where do I start?"

So I decided to make this easy list of organic products. Some I haven't even written about yet but the reviews will be coming soon. I will also make this list available as a new tab on the Your Happy Hearts home page so you can access it at any time. ALL of these products are in my makeup bag/basket, on my bathroom counter, or in my cupboard right now. I use them all!

Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure

Opening Ceremonies

This past Saturday on September 24, 2011, I completed my first Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure. I had a great team made up of friends, family, church family, and co-workers. We were the "Angie's Angels".

It was amazing to see all the women wearing the pink Survivor shirts. Did you know that 1 in 8 women will be or have been diagnosed with breast cancer? When breast cancer is found early, the five year survival rate is now up to 96%. (Of course, I believe I am living longer than 5 years!!!) Those are just statistics.

Race for the Cure - Celebration Dinner

The evening of September 17th, I went to a survivor Celebration dinner. This was a time to get together with co-survivors (our friends and family who have endured it all with us), meet other survivors and supporters, and recognize those who have done amazing things in our community for breast cancer awareness.

Juliet Dragos, from our local WZZM 13 news channel, was awarded The Difference Is You Award and gave a touching speech. It was awesome to hear all she has done for our community for the past several years.

Kohl's Department Stores Breast Cancer Ribbon Auction

In the City of Grand Rapids, Michigan they are entering their 3rd year of what is called Art Prize.  Artists from all over the country, and sometimes the world travel, to Grand Rapids to display their art and win money. Most art sells after the event is over and Grand Rapids proudly displays the winner and that art is kept in town. In honor of the start of Art Prize, I wanted to share another story of what Kohl's is doing in Southeast Wisconsin.

Kohl’s Department Stores are Supporting the Fight against Breast Cancer with a National Ribbon Sculpture Auction!

le photography

One of my very dear friends bought a camera and just loves taking pictures for fun. Her wonderful eye of this world shines through her lens. She is now being requested for family photo-shoots, senior pictures, church events, and even weddings.

Her charismatic personality is what makes her a good photographer. She puts you at ease and makes you feel like it's just something fun to do.

She took pictures of me just days after my 1st surgery, so Tuesday's surgery (the 13th) was no different. She graciously took more just  one day after surgery.

Official Susan G. Komen Story

The 98 Stories - Angie
Angie Christine
A few months before her 37th birthday, Angie Christine
decided to fulfill a dream of entering Jennifer Hendershott’s,
All Women’s Weekend bodybuilding competition. Her
recently adapted exercise routine and ultra-healthy lifestyle
had finally begun to pay off. She was now gaining muscle
mass and confidence, and she wanted to have a little
breastwork done to contour her body -  as a reward for
her hard work and in preparation for the upcoming
competition.

Following a standard pre-surgery mammogram, Angie
and her husband learned that she had five cancerous
tumors in her left breast. “I was totally shocked,” shared
Angie, “We worked out, ate healthy and stayed active;
it didn’t make sense.”

Walking With New Balance

Lace Up Collection #860
I have had an interesting last two weeks that's for sure. As you are all well aware, I am participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure in September here in Michigan. I have created a team "Angie's Angels" and we now have 28 team members walking with me and my husband. I have been utilizing the SGK website, sending out emails to my team members to keep everyone updated and to keep in touch.  Unknown to me, because I missed the information in the news letter, the week of August 8th through the 12th, was a contest. The first 10 people to send out 20 or more emails would win a free pair of New Balance tennis shoes courtesy of New Balance and Susan G. Komen. I "accidently" won! Although I believe there are no accidents, just my God doing what He does best.

I received a certificate in the mail with 5 pairs of shoes to choose from in the "Lace Up" category. "Lace Up" are clothing and shoes made for Susan G. Komen with a percentage of sales going to breast cancer awareness. They all have the pink ribbon and have pink accents!

Ecco Bella Giveaway

Ecco Bella is a company in which I stumbled upon, during my organic search for better beauty products. I was excited to find yet another option for organic and chemical free makeup and skin care. I was given the opportunity to try a few products.

The first product I tried was the Dark Chocolate Mask. Made in the USA and with 70% organic ingredients, this stuff smells amazing. The mask went on very easy. I did not have to use very much product. Once the creme was on, I let it sit for approximately 10-15 min. My face instantly started to harden and after a while I could no longer smile. My face was stiff. The product has vitamin cells which deliver powerful food grade nutrients to your skin. Dark and creamy cocoa delivers nourishing cocoa butter and lavish minerals, also rejuvenating your skin.  When it was time, I took a wet wash cloth and gently scrubbed the mask off. I felt as if I lifted an entire dead layer of skin from my face. I instantly looked brighter and my pours seemed smaller. I loved the results of this product. The 4 oz. bottle retails for $24.95.

Candle Making

I have always wanted to make my own candles. In thinking I would do this someday, I have for years kept left over jars and candle chunks. You know when that candle doesn't quite reach the bottom? Or a tall pillar leaves you with a misshapen shell of a candle? I have a cabinet full of them!!!

I started Tips of the Day for YHH on Facebook. (If you are not yet a fan, become one and don't miss these great tips. LIKE). Most tips are organic or old household tips to save you time and money.
