Wonder Ball Laundry System

Complete System Retails for $49.95
Who hates buying laundry soap? Those large plastic containers which I hate to recycle and hate to throw away drive me nuts. The expense of it all is quite insane. And the nasty smelling dryer sheets put me over the edge. My husband and I shop at Sam's Club and get large bottles and boxes of laundry supplies. While walking through the store I sneeze as the scent from the dryer sheets emanate from my shopping cart.

My sister has been using the Wonder Ball system for YEARS and had told me about it several times. After the cancer diagnosis our household made some serious changes. This is just one of them. I teased my sister about her comments on being able to "smell other people coming" because of their laundry soap. She told me that once you get it out of your house and clothing you are super sensitive to these scents. I didn't believe her until I found it to be true for myself.

I purchased the Wonder Ball system just a few weeks ago from Mystic Wonders Inc.  I am simply going to cut and paste their description instead of trying to explain it in my own words. Simply, because I don't think I could.

"The Wonder Ball is a small ball that contains a special mineral blend.  You toss it into your washing machine so that you can use little or no detergent when washing clothes.  The way it works is the stuff of physics but basically the Wonder Ball empowers the water to be the only cleaning agent you need.  It cuts down or can even cut out what you usually spend on detergent because this laundry ball does the work for you."

"There are also Wonder Laundry Dryer Balls that decrease the amount of time you spend drying your clothes and the number of wrinkles in your clothes once they are dried.  It even works to remove extra lint from your clothing as it dries.  Again, this is another moneysaver and a timesaver because you do not need spend as much time to dry your clothes.  You can even purchase a Complete Laundry System that includes one Wonder Ball and two Wonder Laundry Dryer Balls so all your laundry needs will be covered."

Laundry Ball single Retails for $39.95
You can purchase the Wonder Ball on it's own if you do not wish to use the dryer balls. But I highly recommend both. The Dryer Balls are $19.95 a set (for three, or $15.75 on Amazon.com for two), so you save more buying them together in the kit shown above.

As I researched these items, I found a lot of articles in both directions of praise and then not so much. The biggest "controversy" is what the plastic ball is made out of and if it was a safe plastic. Here is the statement at the bottom of the Mystic Wonders page: "SGS-HK can offer the captioned tests to ensure your final product is completely free of phthalate. SGS-HK will further keep you abreast of the new market trend for any substitute of phthalates plasticizer available in the market."

My husband stated worst case scenario, if they are not as 'healthy' as we would have hoped, they for sure are cheaper. One laundry ball can last up to three years of laundry!!

So do they really work? Well, I am not sure how they work but my clothes seem to be clean and they don't smell. The only thing we have noticed is my husband's socks. We put in a new backyard this year and he has been working in very black dirt. The dirt had made rings on some of his socks and they did not come out all bleached white. That could take a few more washes but I believe regular laundry soap would do the same with black dirt stains.

As far as the dryer balls? They for sure work. I have had no static to my clothing. The only negative I can say is with dryer sheets you just grab your laundry out and throw in your basket. With the dryer balls, you have to find them and put them back in the dryer. I have found them to get stuck in sweatshirt pockets, sleeves and pant legs. So it takes an extra minute or two to track them down.

I would highly recommend these products if you are looking to save money on laundry soap and get away from the harsh smells.

Footnote: Mystic Wonders sent along several other items with my purchase to "sample" which I thought was a nice added touch. Bar Soap, a dish rag, toothpaste, and handkerchief to keep your neck cool, and a few other items I will talk about as I give them a try.
