Since this is my first year participating in this event, I am looking forward to what this day will bring forth. I am sure it will be a lot of emotions. I never imagined I would do such a thing as a survivor or as someone directly affected by this horrible disease. I am thankful to my Father God everyday I do not have to endure chemotherapy or radiation and that it was caught in time. But this does not change the fact my body will never be the same. I have lost a part of myself. Things are just..... well different. Until you walk in these shoes, it's something hard to put into words. Besides never being able to have children. Even if some part of me might have changed my mind and wanted to, this is no longer an option for me.
I now have a strong passion to tell others about EARLY detection. Most insurance companies do not have an age limit for routine check ups. Go in and get checked. Be aware of how you feel and be on the lookout for changes in your body. Don't wait till some doctor says it's OK because now you're 40. I was 36 and 40 would have been too late for me. I don't even want to think what would have happened or the outcome if I would have waited even another few months!
For my first year walking this event, I set some very high goals for myself. I wanted a team of at least 20 members. Right now we are at 21 with two more joining yet this week. I also set a personal goal of $1,000 to be raised and currently am at $400.
I would like to take a moment and ask my beloved YHH readers, many who have been with me since it's beginning, to donate. Even if it's just a few dollars, it will add up quickly. I have never asked my readers for money and have only done giveaways while trying to bring you encouragement in your health and to find the best products on the market. I wouldn't be posting if this didn't mean a lot to me. I want to go in my first year with a big impact.
My team is named Angie's Angels and this is our team logo (Thank you C Miller). I didn't want it to be all about me. But when a friend wrote me a note explaining she was calling on Charlie (God) to help because one of His angels was needing Him here on earth, it stuck with me that this was to be the name or our team. We are all here on earth to help each other. To lend a helping hand. To love one another as God so loved His church. To be angels to one another and have each other's back no matter the cost.
So please take a moment to donate if you can. I understand this could be hard for some. So if you can't donate financially I ask that you keep our team in your prayers as we embark on new territory and have a life changing experience.
Special thanks to family, co-workers, church family, cousins, in-laws, friends, and all those who have already signed up to walk with me and/or donated. I appreciate you all so much!!
From my heart to yours ~ Angie Christine.
