Born Clinic Experience

Born Clinic Vitamin IV Treatments.
As I journey through the recovery/reconstruction stage of breast cancer surgery, I have discovered a lot about myself and what I can and can not eat. I have been going to a place called the Born Clinic for vitamin IV treatments, supplements and testing. People travel from out of state to attend this facility. I have met people from all over Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois.

I had a series of testing done on my blood and hair to find where my toxins were (good or bad). Hair testing showed I was high in tin, silver, and nickel which comes (for me) from hair coloring. I was low in Iodine, Lithium, Sulfur, and Potassium to name a few.

The food testings were completed with my blood against certain foods. Food allergies are an instant allergic reaction to something and you know right away what the cause of it was. A food sensitivity is something you may eat and two to three days later you don't feel well. You may have headaches, a sore throat, an upset stomach, or bathroom problems. But by then you have no idea what caused you to feel this way. My blood was tested against over 100 foods.

I had a long list: Almonds, Green Beans, Lima Beans, Cheddar Cheese, Cottage Cheese and Swiss Cheese, Coffee, Cucumbers, Dill, Eggs, Garlic and Ginger, Honey, Lemons, Lettuce, Dairy (Cows Milk), Oranges, Peanuts, White Potatoes, Soybeans (which is estrogen and my tumors were estrogen driven. So this, in any form for me is bad, pretty much forever), Spinach, Tea (Black), Tomatoes, Baker's Yeast (Breads), Brewers Yeast (Beer and Wine), and Yogurt.

With these foods someone is sensitive to, there is a rating of 1, 2, or 3 depending on severity.  If the food was a rating of 1, say the coffee (Praise God) then I only have to give it up for 3 months. If the food was a rating of 2, then for 4 months, and if the food was a rating of 3, then for 5 months.

During this time, Doctor Born puts her patients on a series of vitamins and IV's to cleanse and allow the body to overcome these food sensitivities. Did you know if you eat the same food almost everyday, your body will create a food sensitivity? It is getting too much of it and will no longer be able to process it like it should. So even if the food is a great food, say like my handful of almonds a day, you will grow sensitive to that food. You should, in a perfect world, rotate your foods every 2-3 or 3-4 days. So fish one day, chicken the next, and beef the next. This isn't realistic for a lot of people who do left overs but if you try to alternate at least every other day it gives your body a 24 hour break from one food to the next. So yes, that cereal you eat EVERY morning is not good for you. My coffee with honey EVERY morning, as you can see from my list above, was not good for me. So I continue to search out foods I can make myself with a food processor (or should I say my husband, he loves cooking) and to follow the doctors orders to the best of my ability.

I am currently passed the 3 month mark and have started slowly adding foods back in. To do this I must try one food and wait a few days to see how I feel or if I am bloated or just feeling off. Then that may be something I can never have again. My pallet for coffee has changed as I don't even really crave it anymore. Just the smell in the house! Cancer cells whether it be a non-active cell or you have been diagnosed with full blown cancer, they will feed off sugar. So honey is pretty much out for me and sugar should be out for everyone. Or really watch how much of it you have. I can now also have Brewer's yeast, which means my occasional glass of wine again (which yes, also has sugar). Tomatoes, Ginger, Spinach, and Oranges are my other rated number 1's.

I will forever be staying away from as much dairy as possible.  My body couldn't handle it and I guzzled milk. I knew my body rebelled yet did it anyway. How dumb! Think of any other animal on earth that drinks milk after they are a baby or small toddler. We are the only ones. It's not necessary. I have switched to Rice milk for my cereal and dark chocolate rice milk for my chocolate fix. Plus it makes the vitamins go down really smooth!
