A quick factoid on Greens

Did you know that "Green" is free? Well almost.

Celery: is what they call "negative calories".  It actually takes more energy to eat,  or digest, than the calories which are in the celery. So you are burning extra energy just by eating it.

Green Peppers: 10 strips of green pepper is only 5 calories! Really? What a great snack. Cut up some peppers, toss them in a ziplock and take them to work for when you get the munchies.

Cucumbers: One slice of cucumber is only 1 calorie. That's easy enough to remember. Slice up some cucumber and count as you go. Another great little snack. Dip it in some hummus. This will add some calories. If you are looking to get in more healthy calories, then it's a great idea. 2 tablespoons is about 70 calories. Do a light dip on each cucumber (or green pepper, yum) and you have a perfect in-between meal snack.

Asparagus: This has so many health benefits you can only be doing your body right by eating it. Asparagus is only 1 calorie per 2" strip. I love munching on these raw. They again are easy to toss in your lunch for work. When we get the munchies for something crunchy this is a way better alternative to  a bag of Doritos (140 calories an ounce! And no one eats just one once!).

Broccoli: 11 calories per spear when eating raw. Again another great snack, or side to your protein dinner. Also dip in hummus for a bit more calories.

You may be saying that these don't taste as good as a donut or a bag of chips. Let me tell you when you start eating healthy, your body will not crave those things. You will start to taste the REAL flavor in all the healthy food. You will discover a new sweet to things you wouldn't guess were sweet and those donuts will start to make you sweet. It's time for change or you wouldn't be here reading. So get to the store, buy some greens, and enjoy a great low cal healthy snack today.
