Quick Survey

As always, I want to meet your needs and more. I have learned so much on my own. Through research, trying different DVD's, weights and cardio, workout routines and more. I want to continue to give you the best information I can find for today's fitness junkie.

I have added a quick survey to the upper right column of my blog and wish for each of you to take just a minute of your day to complete this. It will be up for one month if you don't have time to do it at this moment. This will give me accurate feedback on what you want more or less of. I promise it will be quick and painless. Nothing like a long questionnaire to make you confused and wondering why you started to take it in the first place. Just a few quick checks and your done. Thanks so much for your time and continued reading. I appreciate all of you very much. You are the reason I continue to find the best solutions to fitness questions, seeking out health book authors, and now my personal trip to Phat Camp to see what else I can possibly learn.
Be blessed, Angie

Aging Well - A guide to Rejuvenation and Longevity by Dr. George Cromack

I was given the great pleasure of receiving the book Ageing Well by Dr. George Cromack so I could inform my readers if this was worth your time to pick up and read. I must say, it was a surprise. It's an easy read and can be picked up and put down without interruptions. With small chapters and easy to understand explanations, this is a great vacation/summer read. Throw it in your carry-on and your good to go. Dr. Cromack also took the time for an interview to talk with you all direct.

An
gie: Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to talk with my readers today. You reference in your book you have been practicing chiropractic care for over 25 years. What prompted you to add author to your list of credentials?

Dr. Cromack: I noticed that many patients kept asking the same questions over and over. Over time I realized it was impossible for me to communicate in a clinical setting one on one; the volumes of material necessary to have people reach their health goals. I became painfully aware that the clinical skills I provided in practice were just one part of the larger picture necessary for people to experience optimum well-being. The challenge became how to organize the information I knew worked and was needed in an easy to read distilled version that would drop a lot of the theory and philosophy and get down to the nuts and bolts, of why people needed to know about a particular subject, how it worked, how to do it, and further resources.

Angie: Why start the book out with the first chapter being on pillows? Was there a method to how the book is laid out?

Dr. Cromack: I picked a few of the simpler tools that would have a large impact on a wide audience. Often times changing over to a proper orthopedically designed memory foam pillow can make a substantial difference in reducing neck tension. It costs about 85 dollars for a good quality pillow, and this will last you 4-5 years. I have seen numerous people state that changing to the correct pillow alone reduced their neck pain by 25-50 percent.

Angie: In the chapter on inversion slings, you recommend this for “almost everyone.” I was diagnosed with scoliosis about a year ago and am doing everything in my power and the power of prayer and healing to reverse this back problem. I was told through chiropractic that hanging is not a good idea for me. Do you agree or disagree and why?

Dr. Cromack: I think you would have to say that you were told thru your chiropractor not thru chiropractic, as I don’t agree with this. Traditionally traction is thought to be beneficial for scoliosis. You would want to hang from both your hands on a chin up bar and upside down from an inversion sling. I have scoliosis and find these both to give me a lot of relief. Patients I have seen with scoliosis also report relief from traction. Traction opens up the disc spaces as well as the intervertebral foramina so that there is increased nutrient exchange as well as more room to breath in terms of circulation to the spinal nerve roots, arteries, and veins.

Angie: You spend quite a large amount of the book talking about diet. I totally agree that this affects all aspects of our health. Besides the E3Live, what is another fruit, vegetable or supplement that you believe we can not live without?

Dr. Cromack: I come to people from the view point of abundance and not deprivation. When I start with patients or clients, I don’t talk about what not to eat initially. I get them started on e3live, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach with fruit or a smoothy. We encourage them to work up in a progressive increase of dosage. The E3Live has the effect of stabilizing blood sugar levels and filling in many missing nutritional bullets. In my opinion it is the most nutrient dense food on the planet. As peoples blood sugar levels balance, their cravings for junk food decrease. People lose weight, have an energy increase, detox, and get increased clarity. As a result they gain confidence in your suggestions, and in themselves. This leaves them more receptive and inspired to make other changes. After the person has good results using the E3Live for about a month and has great results, I recommend that they start adding a tablespoon a day of Pure Synergy powder. There are numerous green drink powders on the market now. Pure Synergy is the best of the best. There are over 64 ingredients in Pure Synergy, including 8 kinds of Algaes, 4 kinds of seaweeds, Chinese supertonic herbs, 7 kinds of sprouts, enzymes, and numerous vegetables and western herbs. Each ingredient is organically grown and prepared in a way where it is still enzymatically alive. The kirlian photography of each ingredient in the Pure Synergy shows a large bioluminescent aura around it, indicating high life force. Pure Synergy fills in many of the missing nutrients and minerals that are lacking in the general population.

Angie: Where do you recommend someone go to buy E3Live if they were to give this a try?

Dr. Cromack: I recommend that people buy E3Live from my website www.AgeingWellGuide.com because I have the cheapest price in the country and I offer personal support and coaching to my customers. I send my customers the chapter out of my book Ageing Well: A Guide to Rejuvenation and Longevity, regarding dosage progressions with E3Live. Your readers can receive a discount on their orders of 5 bottles by plugging in the coupon code surfdoc5 at checkout. I pay the fed ex air ship on my end.

Angie: In your chapter on exercise you emphasize how essential it can be to include in our daily routines. Of course I agree or I would not be here today the author of Your Happy Hearts.com. I believe that exercise and eating properly will make your heart happy and promote a longer life. Can you share with my readers what you personally do to add exercise to your healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Cromack: My personal routine includes waking up and doing 30 rounds of yogic breathing with breath retention and magnets, magnetic chi gong, headstand, yoga asanas, followed by one hour of intense strength training 3 days a week. The other 3 days I do kenpo karate, additional yoga, and swimming, as well as plyometrics.

Angie: I love your small chapter on magnets. I am looking into trying that out for myself. I have only ever seen someone wear it to improve their golf game, but not to improve ones health. Do you recommend one style of magnetic therapy over another, and/or a source to purchase such items as you suggested in your book?

Dr. George: You want to use the heavier duty magnets, 3,500 to 12.500 gauss. I purchase my magnets from Peter Ragnar at www.RoaringLionpublishing. The easiest most practical way to integrate magnetic therapy is with a magnetic mattress pad. There are also heavy duty earth magnets that can be used under the feet during working at the computer, or while doing breathing exercises. I also use 3,500 gauss magnets around my wrists and over my pineal gland while doing yoga, breathing exercises, and chi gong. I have been monitoring the chi flowing thru my acupuncture meridians before and after using the magnets and have seen a substantial increase in energy after using them

Peter is one of my mentors and my book is dedicated to him as well as several of my other mentors. Peter is in his late 70s and can bend steal horseshoes with his bear hands as well as leg press 2100 lbs. and bench 450 lbs. multiple times at a body weight of 185. Peter recently did 2000 dips in a row. Jack La Lane was able to do 1000 in his prime.

Angie: For those readers not familiar with your book, why do you recommend they read it over some other health books on the shelves today?

Dr. Cromack: Ageing Well A Guide to Rejuvenation and Longevity exposes the reader to an eclectic approach to health without having to read thousands of books that spend chapter after chapter on theory. My book gets to the heart of the matter quickly, by distilling the material down to how it works and how to do it. It all comes down to organizing the material, knowing from experience what works and provides substantial results, and weeding out the fluff. There are over 50 home run chapters in the book. If your readers just pick 4-5 things in the book that interest them and work on them for 90 days there life will be immeasurably improved. After that I suggest that the pick one to two new areas in the book every 3 months and work on them for 90 days.

Angie: Thank you so much Dr. Cromack for taking the time to speak with my readers.

If you are interested in Aging Well by Dr. George Cromack you can purchase the book at Amazon.com

What makes Phat Camp work? Special Addition Post

YHH email subscribers click here to view on home page.

Well, the countdown to Phat Camp is slowly closing in on me. Only a few weeks left to have my best body ever. I had a time line and it's worked well to keep me motivated. I don't want to fall flat on my face as Jen pushes me in new challenges of fitness.

I have told you all about camp and what it entails. I have posted an awesome interview with the one and only Jen Hendershott. I have encouraged you to take the plunge into camp. (Thanks to a special friend whose now taking the plunge with me!)

But there's one other thing I haven't told you about yet. The team that IS Phat Camp. Behind every successful business is a successful team. I believe God blesses those businesses that run on honor and integrity. And since my first communication with the Phat Camp team, I was treated with great respect. When a company is successful, sometimes employees don't have time for good customer service. (A pet peeve of mine.) What ever happened to good customer service? Well.... it's at Phat Camp.

I first initially emailed Heather Bear, the Personal Assistant to Jen and VP of PC. If you have any questions at all, she welcomes your emails. And guess what? She actually answers you back without a pre-scripted answer. Heather is also a lot like most of us. She had a dream and went for it. Now, she has an awesome testimony and a great before and after picture. She is an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer. She is a wife and mother, she has a busy life, yet, she makes time for herself and her fitness. I am very excited to meet her. She is a great inspiration to us all. Read more on Heather at the Phat Camp site or follow this link. After many questions and emails to Heather, her willingness and patience to help, I am registered for camp!

Next I met Jen through the powers of email. She graciously took of her time to answer questions and put together the interview you saw the end of last month. Over the last 10 years, she has become a great success in the fitness industry. She is married to husband Brian, of 6 years, and from interviews I have seen, seems to be a success at marriage as well. She really has a passion for what she is doing and a passion for your health. God's desire for your life is not to sit on the couch and watch as others have fun. But to get healthy and fit and experience life for ourselves. Each one of us has our own personal goals and Jen is willing to do what she can to help you in this journey with Phat Camp. After many of us were registered, she too took the time to email us all and introduce herself and tell us she is looking forward to meeting us. Again, great customer service!

I am so excited to meet the rest of the crew. Please check out all of their profiles as they again and again explain how much this camp changed their lives. Want motivation and inspiration to finally change your life? Don't just rely on me. There are many different ways to be inspired. Different woman who might say just what you need to hear. Get registered for Phat Camp today and never look back at the flabby old you!

I am now an affiliate of the PGN Nutrition online store. Check out the great supplements and protein powders that we have to offer. Click photo for my store. (www.pgnnutrition.com/shop/125)

I also have attached a fun little video of Jen being interviewed after her last win! Congrats again to Jen for being a champ! Can I have her abs PLEASE? :)

Discount Workouts Giveaway!

I am excited to tell you about Discount Workouts. Not only to introduce this great website but also give you the chance to win a DVD workout of your own. I stumbled on this site through a Google search for new workouts. Discount Workouts has been around for nearly three years and providing access to great workouts at reasonable prices.

Each DVD is packaged in a plastic slip cover. Nothing fancy, but who really needs it? It's what is on the DVD that is most important. Each DVD features a warm up, workout and cool down. I like the way these are filmed actually. There are no bells and whistles so to speak. It's simply an instructor and you. Each DVD has two works so you can alternate them on days if you wish.

The only negative that I really can say for these DVD's is the recording of the sound. They are pretty raw recordings. The Kickboxing Advanced (which I love and will tell you about in a minute) had sound issues as the instructor got excited and was yelling at me to give 100%. So I don't recommend kicking up the surround sound while blasting your fat. Just use your regular TV volume and you should be fine.

The Advanced Kickboxing DVD was awesome and for only $7.98 you can't beat it. If this tells you anything, my husband burned more calories doing this workout than on a P90X DVD. That's a good workout. Unfortunately for my husband, after one workout and a vacation to the woods, he picked up poison ivy which is horrible for him. He had to stop working out as to not sweat and spread the poison ivy. Honestly, all he has talked about is getting back after that Kickboxing DVD.

On the Discount Workout site you are able to select whichever DVD workout you are interested in, and check out a 30-45 second clip of that workout. It features a few different moves and gives you enough time to decide if you are going to like the instructor or not, which is a huge thing for me. I really enjoyed browsing through the workouts.

Another DVD that I was able to try was the Core Strength Vol. #2. I was so impressed with the fact I didn't feel like I was doing a "killer" workout, but turns out later that day, I was. No sweat pouring down, a little heavy breathing but nothing I couldn't pull off at 6 AM before getting ready for work. (These DVD's do require a strength/balance ball). I was so sore after the first day of the Core Strength I couldn't believe it. I now use this DVD religiously as part of my routine. Core Strength DVD's are on sale for $7.98.

The last DVD I received was Advanced Weight Training. Again another series on sale for $7.98. This workout has the instructor using weights with a bar. As a lot of us don't have that at home, and if your like me and have the power blocks, you can still manage this workout with using individual weights as well. Just follow the instructor and give it all you can and you will see great results.

Some other workouts available are Pilates, Yoga, Step Aerobics, Cycling, Treadmill, and Stretch. You should be able to find one that is right for you.

If you want to dive in and get all of these DVD's, you can purchase the Ultimate Collections. These consist of ALL the Beginner workouts for $98.50 instead of the $250 it would cost to buy them all. Or the Advanced workouts for the same $98.50, which figures to $2.75 per workout.

Then there is the Ultimate Collection which comes with all the DVD's they have to offer at $169.99 instead of $450. This figures out to be $2.65 per workout as there are two workouts per DVD. You can't join a gym and take a class for that price. Why not bring the gym instructor to your living room for much less?

Discount Workouts sent me the Beginner Kickboxing DVD to give away to one of my fabulous readers. Here is how to enter:

#1 - Be a subscriber or subscribe today. Leave me a comment: "I subscribe" or "I just subscribed."
#2- Be a follower for a second chance to win. Leave me a comment: "I follow" or "New follower."
#3- Check out the Discount Workouts and let me know which workout you would want to try and why. (Some winners have been chosen based on comment alone. So make it a good one!)

#4- Now follow me on Facebook under Angie Happy-Hearts for daily inspiration. I will accept your friendship as an entry to win. Hope to see you there!

Contest will end Monday, August 24th at midnight. A winner will be chosen on the 25th and contacted per email. If no response is received within four days, another winner may be chosen in your place. Good luck!

Remember to check out www.pgnnutrition.com/store/125 for protein powder and supplements. Blessings, Angie-

The Ah Ha's of Weight Loss by Brad LaTour

Who is Brad LaTour you ask? Do you remember my review on the Jump Snap? Well, Brad LaTour is the brains and now muscle behind the Jump Snap and his new book The Ah Ha's of Weight Loss. After reviewing the Jump Snap workout, Brad graciously sent me a copy of his book to review as well.

I must say there were not a lot of Ah Ha moments for me, as I have been researching and dedicating much of my last year to fitness and finding answers. But for someone just starting out, this book just may put a spin on diet and fitness and make one think about it in a new light.

Let me break it down for you in a brief peak inside the book.

I really enjoyed the introduction and getting to know the inventor and now author. To see someone's journey and how they evolved, into what Brad LaTour has as the founder of the Jump Snap, was really interesting to read. Great beginning to the book.

I agree greatly with the author in that there is no "magic pill that you can just pop in your mouth and make you lose weight". Brad LaTour breaks down calories in and calories out and makes this a very simple concept for all to understand. At the end of each chapter he has questions for you to face about yourself and dig deep into issues. I thought this was a really neat way to make you think. In the section dealing with calories, he provides you with several charts which you can fill in for food planning. I recommend maybe making a few extra copies so you don't scribal all over your book. But that's just me. I just like to hi-light in my books.

One of the points that I did hi-light was his analogy of our bodies being a car and our food, our gas. So many times people try and jump into weight loss and never keep track of what they are eating. Yet when it comes to our cars, we wouldn't dare drive with a broken gas gauge as we may not know when to refuel. I also like how Brad tells the readers to remove the word "diet" from their vocabulary. I agree with this totally. As diet means "the sum of the food consumed by an organism or group." But who knew that?

Again I found another point which I hi-lighted, as I thought was important to point out. I am big into using weights and that being a part of your workout routine. Brad LaTour points out "...for each pound of muscle in your body, you will burn an extra 50 calories per day." That will make you grab those hand weights fast now won't it?

I found a lot of things in the book that I agreed with and am recommending this as a good weekend read for beginners. But if I recommend this book there are a few things I must tell you I don't agree with if you are sticking with my workout/fitness philosophies.

In chapter #9 dealing with fast foods, Brad states that "You don't need to totally avoid fast foods. Understand the menu or perhaps do some research before you go." I personally don't think you should ever be planning a trip to fast food. If you have the time to research the menu before you go, research where else you can go instead. I only agree to do your research if you find yourself in a situation where you have NO OTHER CHOICE, then you know what to get. YHH does not want any of their fitness champs anywhere near a fast food restaurant. I do agree with trying to find a Subway. That would be your best choice (no mayo, of course).

In chapter #11 Brad spends time talking about breakfast and how important it is. I totally agree! But....he states "Even if you eat a doughnut or pancakes, at least it gets your metabolism started and you'll have all day to burn it off." I don't know if he was just trying to prove a point here or not, but please don't do that. No doughnuts or pancakes for breakfast. Unless the pancakes are buckwheat and you add lots of fruit.

The last statement Brad makes in Chapter #13 is pertaining to pop and calories among common drinks. You all know how I feel about pop. Especially diet. All it is, is chemicals with a little water added in. Brad states "Attention to regular soda drinkers, do me a favor and try to swap your regular soda with diet soda." I do not agree with this at all. Give it up totally. It has been proven time and time again that men can lose 10,15,20 pounds just by giving up pop. The acidity in one 8 oz. glass of pop reeks such havoc on your stomach that it would take 30 glasses of water to neutralize.

So, there now I feel better. I just could not recommend this book without stating a few things that I have "preached" to you about before and now condone them through this book. I honestly do feel it's a good read and worth the time to pick it up. There is something in it for everyone. Read it and enjoy. Take what you can from it and make the best health decisions for you!!!

YHH Posts

Wow have I gotten busy this summer. With increased workouts, (morning and evening if possible everyday), holding down a full time job (with an hour commute - one way), a part time hair salon (I own in my home), Thursday night woman’s gym class (I now lead in my home gym, going on week #7), preparing for Phat Camp (which is right around the corner, oh my), finally harvesting our organic garden, being a supportive wife to a Christian guitar playing husband, and finally running this blog and testing products for you all, (whew), I think I have lost track of my summer.

God continues to push me in a direction of fitness and a heart’s desire to teach, and it has just been an awesome ride. Especially these past few months. But honestly it can get a little overwhelming at times. But I just keep pressing through. “Those who press through trials are the ones that come out on top”.
Or so they say.

I never want my posts to be lacking due to rushing and just trying to get it out there. I want to devote time to each article. Also to each company that has given me the chance to demo their products and share the information with you. I have now decided to post on YHH just once per week. I don’t want to inundate you with so many articles that you get frustrated and unsubscribe either. I want it to be a good amount of encouragement and sometimes that slap across the face we all need so badly, but not so much you feel that I am nagging you to workout, yet again.

For those of you who like the continuous slap in the face, you can now look me up on Facebook! Click the button below and ask me to be your friend for daily encouragement. I try and send it out before heading off to work in the morning. So look for it early in the day for the encouragement you need to keep going daily.

I also love your comments. Please leave comments on YHH at the bottom of each post to share with other readers, or email me for private questions (findyourfit@charter.net). I am always here to help.

Thanks so much, from the bottom of my happy healthy heart for being loyal readers. There are almost 700 of you in all, between readers and followers, and I couldn’t be happier you are on this journey with me. Be blessed in all you do this week!

Don't hate me because I speak the truth!

I want to speak on a subject that may be touchy to some of you, quite honestly, really harsh and maybe too close to home. I don’t care. Well I do, enough to save your life! You have read in my past posts that I am a Christian. I don’t hide that fact ever. This post comes from biblical truth. If you believe in someone or something else, you still can’t deny the truth that comes with what I am about to tell you.

First I want to ask you a few questions. How many of you have a friend/family member who you don’t think should be smoking or drinking? It’s bad for their health right? If they would only quit. Don’t they know that smoking causes cancer? And the money alone spent on cigarettes. You can’t help but get upset from the drinking stories they tell you. What if they were to get behind the wheel of a car? The thought of them killing themselves scares you or someone else for that matter.
These are very important issues. We don’t pass up the opportunity to share our feelings with that person. Sometimes we even overstep our boundaries or comfort zone to sit someone down and tell them we care about them and these habits have got to stop. We love to point things out to others. Don’t swear, always have faith and speak positive, treat others the way you wish to be treated, honor your mother and father, honor your spouse and children…..I could go on and on. In no way am I belittling these subjects. But I think we are all missing one very important and horrible sin that we see as OK.

When was the last time you sat down a friend/family member and told them they are eating too much and killing themselves? Wow, there’s a thought huh? I am not talking about someone with a little weight problem, but someone who you have seen take food and made it their sin, their devil. We yell at someone to put that cigarette out and in the next sentence we ask if they want to head to McDonald’s and let’s super size it. The one that drives me the craziest is women who feed other women junk food and sweets. You have an overweight friend who invites you to a house party and you bring a seven layer chocolate cake. Good job supporting your friends eating habits.

We all have sin in our lives. I am not perfect and I make mistakes everyday. Even when it comes to fitness I am still struggling to get it right. I just heard a worship song “No turning back, I’ve made up my mind. I’m giving all of my life this time. Your love makes it worth it, your love makes it worth it all.” I decided this past weekend I am still only giving 85%. You may think I am being hard on myself but I have goals and honoring God is on the top of the list. Being around long enough to enjoy retirement is on the top of the list. Doing things I never thought I could, with a visit to this earth that could end at any moment, is worth it. To push through and sacrifice some processed junk food is worth it all. God's love and honoring Him is worth it all!

If food is controlling you, then it is the Lord of your life! It’s above all else. You can not serve more than one God. I have a heart for fitness and health like I have never had before. I want to yell at people making bad choices. Is this too harsh? It’s just one burger you ask? Most obese individuals have something deep within that is hindering them from a healthy lifestyle. It’s more than the cheeseburger and a pop (yes, even diet). We never seem to care enough to talk about it. If food is the Lord of your life, please, go talk to someone, find out why, and then start making healthier choices and working out.

1 Corinthians 6.20 says “God paid a great price for you, so use your body to honor God.” (CEV). Look in the mirror, how are you honoring God? We are taught to worship God in song, make time to read his word and get to know him better, but how are you honoring him with your body? You don’t have to be a fitness model. Just be healthy and do the things he has called you to do. Even if you don’t follow biblical truth, how are you honoring your family with your body? Most obese individuals can’t play with their children, take their dog for a walk, or do tourist type things and that is so sad to me. If there was an emergency situation, could you save your child’s life or would your weight cause you to be helpless? People with food addictions pass these horrible habits down to their children and create another generation of obese people who can’t control their food. Did you see Biggest Loser this last season? Did you see what Ron did to his son? As a child they don't know any better, so yes I did blame him. You are there to teach your children. What are you teaching them?

This has got to stop! We are all smarter than this. You have the facts or you wouldn’t feel guilty for opening those Doritos (the worst chip on the market, by the way). If there is a small voice, your subconscious, or the Holy Spirit, telling you that you need to get things under control….then you probably do. No one said it was going to be easy. Even 10-15 pounds isn’t easy.

It’s just worth it. It’s worth it all!
